Why can't I rent, download, or print some articles?
DeepDyve works with many publishers but unfortunately not all of them have given us permission to let our users rent, download, or print some/all of their articles.
If an article is marked as "Preview" it means we only have permission to display the abstract but nothing else. As for downloading PDF’s, approximately half of the articles in our collection can be purchased and downloaded directly from DeepDyve. For the remaining half, DeepDyve provides a link that takes you to the publisher site where you can purchase the PDF directly from them.
Why can't I see/access my rented article?
In order to read your rented articles, make sure you are logged into the account from which you rented the article from. Your username should show up on the top right hand corner of your screen. Also make sure there are no error messages visible on your screen.
If you are still unable to access your rented article, please contact us, and we'll try work through the issue with you.
What are "Downloadable" Articles?
"Downloadable" refers to those articles where DeepDyve is only able to display the abstract or first page because we do not currently have permission from the publisher to provide full rental access.
If you would like to purchase Downloadable articles, click the "PDF" button and follow the instructions provided — depending on the article, you may be able to purchase the PDF directly from DeepDyve, or we will provide a link to the publisher where you can purchase it from them.

PayPal is a leading online payments company that allows its 75 million members to send money without sharing any financial information. To learn more about PayPal, please visit paypal.com.
Why is my credit card getting rejected?
If you have confirmed that you your credit card information is correct, often times your card issuer or bank is rejecting DeepDyve's request for transaction. This is possibly because DeepDyve is located in the United States and international transactions are often rejected.
Unfortunately, we do not have control over this process, but we suggest contacting your bank or credit card issuer to request that they accept charges from DeepDyve.
How does Advanced Search work?
DeepDyve enables you to refine your searches to fit your own criteria. In the DeepDyve search bar, click on Advanced Search. You may search by specific words, Title, Author, date range, Journal name and more. In a keyword search, all words are required by default. To exclude a term from a search, use - in front of the word. You can also exactly match a prhase by surrounding that phrase with "".
Do you have an "exact phrase" filter?
DeepDyve includes partial and approximate matches when you ask for an exact phrase. For exact matches, either place "" around the words you are matching, or enter the words into DeepDyve's Advanced Search.
How do Saved Searches work?
Saved Searches help keep a record of any searches you have done during your research process on DeepDyve and also other major research portals such as Pubmed and Google Scholar.
