Egypt vaccinates millions more with full doses

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar announced, on Tuesday, that 31,722,116 citizens have been vaccinated with full doses against the coronavirus.
This came during the minister’s weekly meeting with leaders and assistants at the Ministry of Health and Population, on Monday, to follow up on the progress of the ministry’s plan to address coronavirus pandemic.
The follow up on developments in the epidemiological situation in the governorates took the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of citizens.
A statement by the Ministry of Health and Population said that the minister was briefed, during the meeting, on reports of coronavirus patients’ admission to hospitals, occupancy rates of internal departments, and intensive care.
The reports indicated that hospital admissions for COVID-19 cases decreased by 50 percent in the period from 14 to 21 March, compared to the period from 7 to 14 March 2022.
The statement indicated that the minister followed up the global and local epidemiological situation of coronavirus.
The death rates in all age groups, as reports indicated a decrease in death rates from March 14 to 21, at a rate of 48 percent compared to the period from 7 to 14 March.
The statement pointed out that 1,803,108 citizens were vaccinated, through the door-knock campaign, which ended on March 17th.
The campaign was launched in the governorates of Menoufia, Fayoum, Minya, Sohag, Luxor, Aswan.
The aim is  to reach citizens in remote areas and vaccinate them with anti-Coronavirus vaccines in their first, second, and booster doses for all targeted age groups.
During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the reports on the balances of medicines and medical supplies in hospitals and health facilities.
This in turn confirms the availability of sufficient stocks of medicines, supplies and medical oxygen.
Vaccinations with the third booster dose began on December 21 in Egypt.
Egypt was able in a short time to provide all coronavirus vaccines, including Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna, as part of the state’s plan to diversify and expand the provision of coronavirus vaccines.
The Ministry of Health and Population called on citizens to register on the ministry’s website to receive the vaccine, stressing that the state spares no effort in providing vaccines to citizens for free, through permanent cooperation with international organizations and bodies.
