Newcastle sign Hendrick
Newcastle have completed the signing of former Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick on a free transfer.
Hendrick said: "I've had over 100 games in the Premier League but I want to keep going and keep improving with a different team. It's going to be different for me, the demands with the bigger stadium, the crowd, how big the club is, so I've got to take that on and keep pushing myself and striving to get better.
"I'm looking forward to it - I can't wait."
Steve Bruce added: "Jeff is someone I've admired for a long time. I watched him when he was at Derby, then he went to Burnley for a lot of money and couldn't afford him, so I missed out then!
"He's an experienced international football who can play all across the midfield so we welcome him aboard. He'll be a big asset to us, on and off the pitch.
"He's a great pro, down to earth, and at the age of 28 it's a wonderful time to get somebody. It is the peak of his career - he's a really fit boy who has played 122 times in the Premier League for Burnley over the last four years, and I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the squad."
Chelsea deal in danger
Chelsea might scrap plans to sign Ben Chilwell today depending on the results of tests on his injured heel.
Frank Lampard wants the England international to bolster his defence and is in talks with Leicester over a deal.
However, a source has told The Sun the Blues might turn their attention away from Chilwell if it's negative on the injury front.
"If Ben gets news he is going to be out for another six weeks, not three, then Chelsea could well take a totally different view on this whole matter," they said.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd stars in demand
Roma are planning a double raid in London with chiefs targeting Chelsea midfielder Jorginho and Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Roma chief executive Guido Fienga was in the UK this past week talking to clubs about deals for the summer window.
And Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is also on his wish list following a successful loan spell at the Stadio Olimpico.
Express Sport understands Roma might offload Arsenal target Amadou Diawara in a bid to fund their prospective deals.
Tottenham transfer plot backed
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is spot on to be targeting Bournemouth star Callum Wilson, says former Spurs striker Darren Bent.
"They need someone who’s adequate backup to Harry Kane and Callum Wilson’s smart enough to understand to know he’s not going to go down there and play straight away," Bent told Football Insider.
"If Harry Kane’s fit, Harry Kane plays, but we’ve seen Harry Kane get injured every single season for the last couple of years and they’ve never really had anyone come in and be adequate backup.
"You’ve had people kind of carry the load, Son stepped up a bit and scored goals but I think if you’ve got another genuine number nine who can come in and score goals, you never know, if Harry Kane gets injured and Wilson goes and starts smashing the goals in, we’ve got a fight on our hands. I like what Mourinho’s doing there."
Man Utd plot Barcelona deal
Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati has emerged as the winger Manchester United want if their pursuit of Jadon Sancho proves unsuccessful.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to bolster his attack this summer in a bid to close the gap on Premier League champions Liverpool.
And Sancho has been his No 1 target following a scintillating past couple of seasons with Borussia Dortmund.
However, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo indicate Fati is seen as an alternative and United are prepared to stump up £153m to get him through the door.
Chelsea target speaks out
Chelsea might get a few seasons out of Thiago Silva if they manage to lure the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The departing Paris Saint-Germain captain is targeting a place in his country's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"I want to prepare for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. We will see how my body will react."

Cristiano Ronaldo text helped Man Utd
Manchester United can be thankful they heeded the advice of former star Cristiano Ronaldo after watching Bruno Fernandes thrive at Old Trafford.
Patrice Evra has revealed he reached out to the Portuguese on behalf of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ask about signing the former Sporting Lisbon captain.
"When they wanted to sign Bruno Fernandes, Ole texted me," Evra told The Guardian. "I asked for advice from Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano says: 'Bruno’s a good guy and very professional'.
"I say: 'Ole, I’ve spoken with Cristiano. Let’s go for it'. And Fernandes had a massive impact. Without him, I don’t think we would have qualified for the Champions League."

Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool
Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara will make a decision on where his future lies in the coming days, says Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick.
Jurgen Klopp is seriously interested in adding the Spain international to his Premier League-winning squad this summer.
And, speaking after Bayern's 1-0 Champions League final victory over PSG, Flick revealed the next week would be crucial.
"He told me that he would stay [at Bayern]," joked Flick. "I just thanked him. I don't know [where his future lies], he doesn't know himself yet. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the next few days."
Arsenal to sign Gabriel Magalhaes
Arsenal are today set to wrap up a £27m deal for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes as Mikel Arteta continues his squad overhaul.
Express Sport understands the Brazilian underwent a medical in France last week and will put pen to paper on a five-year contract, worth £80,000 a week.
Gabriel will enter a two-week quarantine period upon arrival in London, meaning he's poised to miss the start of the new Premier League campaign.
However, Arteta will look to bed him in as soon as he can get involved in training, with the 22-year-old in line to partner William Saliba in defence.
