FACEBOOK IS EXPECTED TO LAUNCH ITS GAME-STREAMING PLATFORM AND TWITCH COMPETITOR AT E3 2018
Called the 'Level Up' program, Facebook will now provide information and tools to creators who are trying to build a community on the platform.
TECH2 NEWS STAFFJUN 08, 2018 11:45:18 IST

Targeting livestreamers and avid gamers, Facebook back in January launched a cohesive pilot program for streaming games on its platform.

Having gathered feedback from streamers, it will now introduce more ways for them to find an audience and also announce a new program for those who are new to the platform. This will happen later this month, most likely at E3 2018, an annual gaming expo.
Called the 'Level Up' program, Facebook will now provide information and tools to creators who are beginning to build their own community on the platform and monetising their work.

Talking about the key elements of the Level One program, Facebook in a blog post said livestreamers can earn money through a fan support feature it calls 'Facebook Stars'. This sounds like fancy new terminology, but it was already a part of its pilot program that was launched in January. This will let fans support their favorite gaming creators by purchasing and sending virtual goods during livestreams.
Members who enroll for of the Level Up program will also receive early access to new features, key tips and practices from established gaming creators and customised access to Facebook support for troubleshooting and bug reporting. Facebook does have a few rules and regulations in place to be eligible for the program, so you might want to go through them first, if you're interested.

Apart from introducing the Level Up program which is geared towards creators, Facebook is also working on developing a video destination for all current ongoing gaming livestreams. What's more, Facebook will also very soon host esports competitions on the platform, something it deems necessary for building a gaming ecosystem.

Facebook is expected to showcase more on what it has in mind for gamers and creators at E3 next week, but we can now safely say that it is planning to give recognised platforms like Twitch and YouTube a run for their money.

VIVO ANNOUNCES 3 YEARS OF SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR ITS UPCOMING X SERIES SMARTPHONES
This will be applicable to Vivo X smartphones that will cover the European, Australian, and Indian markets.
FP TRENDINGMAY 11, 2021 17:45:24 IST

With an aim to provide people with timely updates for a better user experience, Vivo has announced that it will ensure three years of software updates to its flagship X series phones coming in the future. As per a press release, the update cycle involves three major Android updates and minor security upgrades for select Vivo X smartphones that will be launched after July 2021. This means that users can expect the same for the upcoming Vivo X70 series.
Vivo X60 Pro
This will be applicable to Vivo X smartphones that will cover the European, Australian, and Indian markets.
Yujian Shi, Senior Vice President and CTO of Vivo, in the press release said, “Featuring top-of-the-line hardware, the X series flagship phones are built to last – and we want to make sure that our customers get software support that lives up to their expectations. We always innovate with the user in mind. With this pledge, we are making a promise to our customers that they will be able to enjoy a premium smartphone experience for an extended period and continue to benefit from the latest software features”.
However, we are yet to know which Vivo phones will be eligible for this program. The non-eligible ones will continue getting the regular Android updates as planned.
What about the Vivo X60 series?

There’s also no word if the current Vivo X60 series is eligible. To recall, Vivo launched the X60, X60 Pro (Review), and the X60 Pro+ in India back in March. All three devices fall in the semi-premium and premium segment.
The Vivo X60 and the X60 Pro come with a 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED 120Hz display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip, and up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. On the camera front, there are three rear cameras (48 MP, 13 MP, 13 MP) and a 32 MP front camera. The difference is that the X60 Pro gets gimbal stabilisation.
While the X60 gets a 4,300 mAh battery, the X60 Pro comes with a 4,200 mAh battery. Both support 33 W fast charging and run FunTouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11.
The Vivo X60 Pro+ comes with the same display as its siblings but with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It gets 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It has the same battery capacity as the X60 Pro but with 50 W fast charging.
Camera-wise, it houses four rear snappers (50 MP, 48 MP, 32 MP, 8 MP) and a 32 MP front camera. It too runs FunTouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11.

TWITTER DONATES $15 MILLION FOR COVID-19 RELIEF IN INDIA ACROSS CARE, AID INDIA, AND SEWA INTERNATIONAL USA
While CARE has been given USD 10 million, Aid India and Sewa International USA have received USD 2.5 million each.
TECH2 NEWS STAFFMAY 11, 2021 17:16:20 IST

Twitter has donated $15 million (Rs 110.22 crore) to help address the COVID-19 crisis in India as it battles the unprecedented second wave of the pandemic. Twitter CEO Jack Patrick Dorsey on Monday tweeted that the amount has been donated to three non-governmental organisations – Care, Aid India and Sewa International USA. While CARE has been given USD 10 million, Aid India and Sewa International USA have received USD 2.5 million each.
$15 million split between @CARE, @AIDINDIA, and @sewausa to help address the COVID-19 crisis in India. All tracked here: https://t.co/Db2YJiwcqc 🇮🇳

Meanwhile, Twitterati cried foul at the donations made to Sewa International USA.
Dear NRIs,
Please don't donate to Sewa International for Covid relief. They work as the welfare wing of RSS. Apart from supporting BJP govt's massive crimes including abandoning Indian citizens in this pandemic, they also traffic children from tribal areas to indoctrinate them.

Dear @jack and everyone else reading this. Please stop funding hate in the times of corona. @SewaUSA is a well-known peddler of hate and bigotry. #COVID19#Covid19IndiaHelp

“Sewa International is a Hindu faith-based, humanitarian, non-profit service organisation. This grant will support the procurement of life-saving equipment such as oxygen concentrators, ventilators, BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines as part of Sewa International's ‘Help India Defeat Covid-19’ campaign,” Twitter said in a statement.
“Equipment will be distributed to government hospitals and Covid-19 care centers and hospitals,” it said.

Reacting to the announcement, Sewa International's Vice-President for Marketing and Fund Development Sandeep Khadkekar thanked Dorsey for his generous donation, saying it was gratifying that Sewa’s work has been recognised.
“We are a volunteer-driven non-profit organisation, and we believe in serving all, following the sacred Hindu benediction, 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah' – 'May all be happy. Our administrative costs are about five per cent, meaning that every dollar a donor offers, we spend 95 cents of it on the work that it is earmarked for. In these past two weeks, we have seen how overwhelmed India's healthcare system is, and we want to do as much as we can to come to the aid of people who are deeply affected. Twitter's generosity will go a long way in helping us do the work we want to do, and that we need to do',” Khadkekar told PTI.
With this, Houston-headquartered Sewa USA has so far raised $17.5 million towards its India Covid-19 relief efforts.
CARE is a leading humanitarian organisation fighting global poverty. Twitter said the grant of $10 million will support CARE's urgent action to help address the deadly second wave of Covid-19 infections devastating India. “Funds will be used to supplement government efforts by setting up temporary Covid-19 care centres; providing oxygen, PPE kits and other critically needed emergency supplies for frontline health workers; and addressing vaccine hesitancy and helping ensure that people get vaccinated, particularly in remote, marginalised communities in India,” it said.
Association for India's Development (AID) is a volunteer movement promoting sustainable, equitable and just development. AID partners with grassroots organisations in India on interconnected areas of education, health, agriculture, livelihoods, environment, and human rights, Twitter said.
“This grant will help under-resourced communities identify Covid symptoms, prevent spread, access care and treatment, benefit from medical equipment including oxygen, oximeters, thermometers, protective gear and vaccination, survive lockdowns, regain livelihoods and will strengthen hospitals and NGOs that serve rural and low-income communities,” Twitter added.
