Ridley Scott is ready to get himself into the world of espionage.
The filmmaker is in talks to direct 20th Century Fox’s graphic novel adaptation Queen & Country, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Scott would come on to produce with Chernin Entertainment if the deal closes.
The comic book series from Greg Rucka centers on a British Secret Intelligence Service operative named Tara Chace, one of a group of three field operatives dedicated to preserving British intelligence internationally whose identity is compromised following an assassination. Illustrated by artists including Chris Samnee, Carla Speed McNeil and Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, the series ran for 32 issues from 2001-07 at Oni Press and won an Eisner Award for best new series in 2002.
Ellen Page was at one time set to star in the film, back when it had a script from screenwriter Ryan Condal, whose draft followed scripts written by John Rogers and Rucka. The current status of the script is unknown.
Scott is coming off of releasing two directorial efforts in the last year, including Alien: Covenant for Fox and All the Money in the World for Sony.
The Wrap first reported the news.
