After congratulating some of the big winners of the night, including Paul McCartney, Vampire Weekend and Daft Punk, and revealing, “I gave them all ‘the Colbert bump,’ ” the political satirist and comedian went on to announce: “I am most proud of my best friend of the show — me. Whoa!!!!!!
“Do you understand what it means to win the Grammy for best spoken word album? It is like the Nobel prize of audiobooks…that means I am the world’s best speaker.
“I am so good at speaking words, I should get paid for speaking words,” he joked.

“With this, my second Grammy, I have finally got an Emmy, a Grammy, an ‘Other Grammy’ and the People’s Choice Award,” he said, referring to his 2010 best comedy album win for A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!
Colbert went to make fun of the award itself, telling viewers, “The Recording Academy is very particular about how you hold these things,” explaining that the gramophone faces left.

“That is so you can see the plaque, and also the other side has visible genitalia. I assume that is how they make other Grammys,” he quipped.
Earlier in Monday’s episode, Colbert mocked the white tuxedo Madonna wore on the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, comparing the Material Girl to KFC’s Colonel Sanders.
“I don’t know about you, but Madonna’s entrance gave me the urge to eat a bucket of fried chicken,” he said.
