The Idea Lab
To ensure our products remain true to our heritage of innovation, Innovative created the Idea Lab, a collaborative space where any and all Innovative customers can share feedback and ideas that inform the development of our solutions.

Created in 2017, the Idea Lab uses a unique “challenge” system, a more productive, collaborative process for collecting and addressing ideas than traditional customer feedback channels. Last year, we added the Always Open space to capture ideas from our customers that might not match an open challenge. Help us create the next great ILS solution. Creating an Idea Lab account only takes a moment, is open to all library staff, and doesn’t require IUG membership.
Our first Idea Lab challenge solicited dozens of unique ideas and thousands of votes from around the world, exceeding every benchmark anticipated. As a result, it helped us to develop our most customer-informed analytics solution to date.
The Sierra Public Services Workflow Challenge
In our first product challenge, customers gave us 150 ideas for updates to the 2018 release of our Sierra platform. After thousands of customers voted, we incorporated the two winning ideas and improved how canceled holds are managed.
The Polaris Web Application Challenge
Input we received during this challenge helped us improve Polaris features that users told us matter the most. Winning ideas focused on enabling bulk changes, improved print options, and fines payment integration.
The Newest Features of Polaris
Our 2018 Polaris product release added several new and improved features thanks to input we received from an Idea Lab challenge combined with feedback in our Always Open space and the IUG. Updates addressed eCommerce account support, loan length, and more.
