Build leadership and life skills. At IUPUI, you can get an internship at a Fortune 500 company just steps from campus, join a team that runs campus events, participate in ground-breaking research, or enjoy the best concerts, professional sports teams, and cultural experiences Indianapolis has to offer.
IUPUI’s RISE Initiative promotes transformative teaching and learning, focusing on four types of experiential learning opportunities to give you an edge—research, study abroad, service learning, and an internship or practicum. In addition to these real-world learning and leadership opportunities, you’ll find plenty of ways to get involved on campus and within the city.
I feel like this push, this energy to get people involved in IUPUI as a school, and as an organization, is really, really good here.

Student clubs and organizations for 500+ interests
Make friends, explore new interests and learn skills that will help you succeed by joining one or more student organizations. IUPUI has clubs and organizations that align with academics, special interests, political and social awareness, religious affiliations, sports and recreation, and much more. Don’t see your favorite hobby or activity represented? It’s easy to start a new student organization, as well.
IUPUI is dedicated to ensuring that all members of the campus community have the resources and support to be successful. The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and several student organizations work to create and sustain a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable campus climate. The IUPUI Multicultural Center also has events and programming that celebrate different cultures and perspectives.
IUPUI has also won the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT into Diversity magazine for seven years in a row.
The IUPUI Jaguars are Indianapolis’s only Division I college sports program. IUPUI student-athletes compete in 18 NCAA Division 1 sports in the NCAA Horizon League, including basketball, baseball, tennis, track and field, and golf, to name a few. When you’re not cheering on the Jags, you can participate in a variety of intramural sports leagues, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and more.
From Weeks of Welcome at the beginning of both fall and spring semesters to Jagathon (our dance marathon benefiting Riley Hospital for Children), the annual Regatta canoe race and festival, and Jagapaloooza (our year-end campus carnival), you’ll find plenty of Jaguar events to keep you busy throughout the year.

Right from day one at IUPUI, I was able to get a job. I was able to get involved with the dance marathon here and get my job as an ambassador. I would say everyone has been so welcoming, and so friendly and I had a lot of opportunities just right from the get-go during Weeks of Welcome. I was able to step out of my comfort zone.
