AAPOR is an association of people interested in the methods, applications and analysis of public opinion and survey research. It was founded in 1947 by a group of dedicated public opinion research pioneers. In the main, AAPOR has occupied itself with professional matters: POQ, which became the official journal in 1948; professional standards; and above all, advancing research theory and methodology. The more than 1,500 individuals who comprise AAPOR are producers and users of all kinds of survey research. They come from academic and commercial organizations, foundations and voluntary groups.
