British Association for American Studies Publisher Description

The British Association of American Studies (BAAS) is a lively and thriving academic hub for the study of all things 'American' in the UK. Through conferences, publications, fellowships and prizes, BAAS promotes and facilitates academic negotiations with American Studies. Like the field of American Studies itself, BAAS does not take a position that is either pro- or anti-American; instead, it supports and encourages a range of innovative and multi-disciplinary studies of 'Americanism' — the way that America, as a nation, as cultural entity and as an idea, has manifested itself on, and been received by, the world. BAAS's work is not just limited to the academy either: through sponsorship programmes, participation in non-academic events and ongoing work with school-level students, the association works assiduously to encourage engagement with the field of American Studies at all levels. With worldwide interest in the United States at an all-time high, this is unquestionably an interesting time to be in BAAS.
