Founded in 1904, the Société préhistorique française (SPF) is one of the oldest archaeological societies. In 1910 it was recognized as performing a public service and was awarded the “Grand Prix de l’Archéologie” in 1982. The SPF offers its members the opportunity to read in-depth articles by leading prehistorians from the various institutions actively involved in excavation and research in France and beyond.
Besides the Bulletin, the SPF also publishes two non-periodical series of conference proceedings (“Congrès préhistorique de France” and “Internéo”), two series of books (“Mémoires” and “Travaux”), and two series of typological guides (bronze artifacts from the French Bronze Age and prehistoric osseous tools).
