Matthew Ballinger

Matthew Ballinger is the deputy editor for environment, health and science at the Los Angeles Times. He previously was the deputy editor for content business strategy. From 2020 to 2023, he led the Utility Journalism Team. Ballinger, a Southern California native and Cal State Fullerton graduate, joined the Los Angeles Times in 2008 and has also worked as a copy editor, homepage editor, history blogger and Homicide Report editor, as well as working on the rollouts of several newsroom technology platforms.
