Library Technology System Changes
Last updated: August 28, 2021
To secure and enhance the library system that allows you to find, request, and borrow items, we have an entirely new technology platform.
The previous technology, which was more than 30 years old, was out-of-sync with modern computing standards, and didn't meet the needs of a large collection that includes an expanding variety of materials and formats, from streaming video to a book made of cheese.
We appreciate your patience with our occasional service disruptions over the summer as we migrated the library catalog into our new technology system — the final stage of a multi-year project.
What this means for you
Items that arrived while the migration was underway, and requests for new items, are now being processed.
You might notice some changes in the Library Search interface.
In addition, as part of the switch to the new system, My Account has been completely redesigned and Mirlyn Classic is now retired.
If you have questions, or are interested in participating in user surveys or testing to help us review the changes, send an email to ls-initiative-info@umich.edu.
