After marrying into Britain's most famous family, Kate Middleton has gained many fabulous perks over the years - from dazzling tiaras and ball gowns to private chefs and her own personal driver.

But there is one royal perk that by far outweighs all the rest and that is Sovereign Immunity.

This is a law that states that the sovereign cannot commit a legal wrong and is thus immune from civil suit or criminal prosecution.

Unfortunately for the other members of the Royal family, only The Queen has it, meaning she can quite literally do no wrong.

Despite this, she still likes to make sure she remains on the straight and narrow, with a statement on the Royal Family's website reading: "Although civil and criminal proceedings cannot be taken against the Sovereign as a person under UK law, The Queen is careful to ensure that all her activities in her personal capacity are carried out in strict accordance with the law."

As this blanket immunity does not apply to anyone else the likes of Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry and Kate Middleton, would all have to pay the price if they committed a crime.

One royal has already been given a criminal conviction.

In 2002, the Princess Royal, Princess Anne was fined £500 and made to pay compensation after pleading guilty to a charge of one of her dogs attacking children.

She was the first member of the royal family to plead guilty to a criminal offence.

The year before this, Anne was also fined £400 for speeding in her Bentley after admitting to driving at 93mph in a 70mph zone in Gloucestershire.

And while the other members of the Royal Family can be arrested, there are a few loopholes when it comes to this.

According to the legal encyclopedia Halsbury's Laws of England, members of the royal household cannot be arrested in civil proceedings, arrests can't take place in the monarch's presence and they also cannot be arrested anywhere near Buckingham Palace.
