PROFILE of David Brower, conservationist, & Floyd E. Dominy, US Commissioner of Reclamation. Brower, at 56, has been called "the most powerful voice in the conservation movement" in this country. Tells about his first major campaign as executive director of the Sierra Club. Called the Dinosaur Battle, he succeeded in preventing a dam being built that would create a reservoir backed into large sections of Dinosaur Nat'l. Monument. It is said that this victory marks the birth of the modern conservation movement. The Bureau of Reclamation is responsible for building dams. Dominy & Brower go on a rubber raft trip down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, as they discuss their differences. They also attend the dedication of Lake Powell, which was created by the Glen Canyon Dam, which they also visit. Tells how Brower was ousted as exec. director of the Sierra Club by a vote of the board of directors, many of whom were close friends of Brewer's. Tells why this happened. Tells about Brower as a mountain climber--he has climbed all the peaks in theSierra Nevada that are higher than 14,000 feet.
