65% 68 Reviews Tomatometer 19% 500+ Ratings Audience Score U.S. Rep. Francis Underwood of South Carolina starts out as a ruthless politician seeking revenge in this Netflix original production. Promised the post of Secretary of State in exchange for his support, his efforts help to ensure the election of Garrett Walker to the presidency. But Walker changes his mind before the inauguration, telling Underwood he's too valuable in Congress. Outwardly, Underwood accepts his marching orders, but secretly he and his wife Claire, an environmental activist, make a pact to destroy Walker and his allies. As the series progresses, Underwood ascends through the ranks of the government -- until his death, at which point Claire gains power. Based on the U.K. miniseries of the same name, the U.S. version offers a look behind the scenes at the greed and corruption in American politics. A number of real-life media figures make cameo appearances. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Premiered May 06 Buy Now

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

House of Cards folds slightly under the weight of its labyrinthian ending -- thankfully Robin Wright's commanding performance is more than enough to keep it standing strong.

Savannah G It was really a hard Season to come up after and to end on, but I felt it ended the way it should have always. I knew that Claire was so mysterious this season, which explains why It's a fantastic ending to a legacy show! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Jonathan M literal garbage season, should be 0 % Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review noman i House of Cards was a GREAT Show until season 5, But it lost all the charisma, fervor, and soul of the show after the so dumbest death of Frank Underwood. If I sum it up, it would be " House of Cards was Frank Underwood, there is no House of Cards without him" Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Chavel D The American Version of "House of Cards" is a cheap ripoff of the GREAT original one on BBC. Ah, to hear one more time the late Ian Richardson say "You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment"... R.I.P. Ian.... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review אופק × Just disappointing season. Kevin Spacey carried the series on his back, and once he was killed off so abruptly, the series just no longer worth the time. Disappointing, mainly because there is no real and satisfying ending to frank underwoods story. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/23 Full Review Antonio P The show quality declining since season 4 finds its bottom in this last season. Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) House of Cards...trashes itself, even if it was a sort of knowing trash to start with. Nov 12, 2018 Full Review Lauren Carroll Harris Guardian The new season of House of Cards doesn't feel like an arbitrary story overhaul in response to the #MeToo crisis. It feels right. Nov 9, 2018 Full Review Sonia Saraiya Vanity Fair The story of Season 6 just doesn't cohere; it barely even tracks well enough to summarize. In a way, the total breakdown is sort of beautiful; it's like watching the story collapse in upon itself, a deserted building, carefully demolished. Nov 5, 2018 Full Review Victor Pineyro Seventh Art Studio Robin Wright was one of the best things from the previous seasons of House of Cards, but season 6 simple should've never existed. The ghost of Frank Underwood became its doom. Full review in Spanish Rated: 4/10 Apr 7, 2022 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site Artistically, Season 6 of House of Cards is a flop. Aug 7, 2020 Full Review Neil Mathew Cultured Vultures It isn't easy to replace Frank Underwood, who... has become one of the most legendary characters ever portrayed on a TV show. However, it is obvious that this season not only lacked inspiration - it was lacking, in general. Oct 9, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
