Pedestrian, 55, struck by car, gravely injured in City Heights
It happened about 9:25 Thursday night on Poplar Street between Columbine and Snowdrop streets
A 55-year-old man sustained life-threatening head injuries Thursday night when he was struck by a car while walking in a City Heights roadway, San Diego police said.
It happened about 9:25 p.m. on Poplar Street a few blocks southwest of Fairmount Avenue, according to Officer Robert Heims.
The victim, who was wearing dark clothes, was walking in the northbound lane when a 20-year-old woman in a 2021 Toyota Corolla struck him from behind, Heims said in a news release.
Medics took the man to a hospital with life-threatening head wounds and foot injuries, Heims said. Personnel from the Police Department’s traffic division were investigating the crash.
