Flooding from water main breaks force closure of Gate 7 at Naval Base San Diego
Traffic on base has been rerouted as crews address three main breaks
SAN DIEGO —
Flooding from a series of water main breaks led military officials to close one of the entrance gates to Naval Base San Diego on Wednesday.
Three water mains about a block apart, including one in a parking lot, broke around 10:40 a.m., base spokeswoman Krishna Jackson said.
Gate 7, on Harbor Drive at Vesta Street, was closed and traffic was rerouted, she said.
The broken pipes are all on the base. Officials did not provide a time estimate for when the gate might be reopened.
