Exciting news! We've just added our newest discovery tool to Stathead Basketball: the Team Season Finder for college stats.

The Team Season Finder gives you the ability to search College Basketball Reference's vast and mighty database of men's and women's team stats. Search stats including basic stats like wins, points, assists, and rebounds, as well as advanced stats like offensive and defensive rating and pace. You can find information like:

1. Most wins in a season for a Men’s team
2. Fewest wins in a season for a Women’s Team that won the National Championship
3. Worst record by a team that made the men's Final Four
4. Fastest women's team by pace factor since 2002-03

Coverage for some stats goes all the way back to 1947-48 for men's teams and 1987-88 for women's.

Our new Stathead Basketball tools for searching our college basketball database feature ways to search for NCAA Tournament games. Due to major changes in the format and round nomenclature over the years, it is tricky to search for exactly what you're looking for using strictly round names. We are excited to announce that Sports Reference's College Basketball site has added 14 new seasons worth of player and team statistics for Division I women's basketball. This takes our coverage all the way back to 1987-88, when a balanced Louisiana Tech squad featuring the likes of Teresa Weatherspoon, Venus Lacy and Erica Westbrooks won the National Championship, while Weatherspoon, Sue Wicks and Michelle Edwards shared the various national player of the year honors. Some of the most notable players in basketball history have had their statistics added to the site with this update. They include, among others: Lisa Leslie, Dawn Staley, Sheryl Swoopes, Rebecca Lobo, Chamique Holdsclaw and Tamika Catchings. Read the rest of this entry

Thanks to some recent data expansions, we have vastly improved the coverage of seasons on our men's college basketball leaderboards on the Sports Reference College Basketball site. This will make the most comprehensive online archive of college basketball statistics even more robust. One thing to note is that in some cases this allows for our leaderboards to be even more comprehensive than what is included in the NCAA Record Book. This is because many schools tracked statistics such as blocks, steals and assists long before they became 'official' NCAA categories. Below is a breakdown of some of these changes.

Sports Reference has incorporated thousands of updates, additions and improvements to its Men's College Basketball data on the Sports Reference College Basketball site thanks to the efforts of Dave Quinn.

This expansion of data runs from 1950-51 through 2006-07, with a particular concentration in 1998-99 and 1999-00 (with over 20,000 new datapoints added to those seasons). The most-impacted statistics are Minutes Played (9,165 additions), Defensive Rebounds (8,910 additions), Offensive Rebounds (7,060 additions), Turnovers (5,283 additions), Personal Fouls (3,573 additions) and Games Started (3,072 additions). All our player pages recently received a big update. We added a new table showing every player's performances over their last five games. It looks like this:

Pretty cool! This is on all sites (except FBref, where it's still in development), but right now you can only see it on the sports that are currently in season.

Exciting news, we've just added even more women's stats to College Basketball Reference!

Just a few weeks ago, we expanded College Basketball Reference to include women's stats for the first time, covering seasons back to 2009-10. Today, we're excited to announce that we've added eight more seasons worth of stats, taking our coverage back to 2001-02. Read the rest of this entry

An eagle-eyed user recently noticed that the True Shooting Percentage calculation we were using in our college basketball box scores seemed to differ slightly from the method we spell out in our glossary. It turns out we were mistakenly using the FT constant we use for the pro game (.44) in our college box scores, rather than the .475 that we spell out in our glossary and that we use to calculate season and career-level data for players.

Sports Reference is proud to announce a major update to College Basketball Reference. We have nearly doubled the size of our database by adding women's college basketball statistics dating back to 2009-2010 with more to come in the next few weeks.

At Sports Reference, our core purpose is to democratize data, so our users enjoy, understand, and share the sports they love. Our goal is to make as much information about sports available to everyone. We also strive to ensure our coverage includes sports that have traditionally been underrepresented. As such, we're very excited to be able to bring this data to women's college basketball fans all over the Internet.
