GET A LIBRARY CARD
You gotta get the card.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR A LIBRARY CARD?
Any resident of Stratford, St. Marys, Perth East, West Perth, Perth South or North Perth may obtain a Stratford Public Library Card FREE of charge.
Your library card is a permanent card, renewable biyearly, and must be brought to the library every time you wish to borrow materials or use the public Internet.
Thanks to the Perth County Information Network, your Stratford Library card allows you to borrow items from the St. Marys, North Perth (Listowel, Monkton and Atwood) West Perth (Mitchell), and Perth East (Milverton) public libraries.
Reciprocal borrowing allows library customers from participating communities to receive borrowing privileges at our location. Communities included in this agreement are Huron County, Oxford County (with the exception of Woodstock), Region of Waterloo (with the exception of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge), Middlesex County (with the exception of London) and Wellington County (with the exception of Guelph).
*Please note that there is a visitor fee of $7/month for residents of communities that are not part of the reciprocal borrowing agreement.
Residents of communities in the reciprocal borrowing agreement are welcome to get a Stratford Public Library card by coming in with a piece of identification with their address (ie. driver's license, age of majority card). Stratford Public Library cardholders can also go into any of these libraries with their identification and their SPL library card to obtain a library card at that location.
In order to access your library account online, place a hold, or to download ebooks or audiobooks, you will need a PIN. The library has assigned you a PIN and it is the last 4 digits of your phone number.
Do not give out your PIN, as doing so may permit access to information on your library account.
RENEWING YOUR LIBRARY CARD
Every two years, your library card will need to be renewed. You can renew by visiting the library or calling 519-271-0220 during business hours.
To see when your library card expires, log into your library account in the catalogue, then click on "My Settings" in the top right corner.
LOST OR STOLEN CARDS
If your card is lost or stolen, report it immediately to the Library. You are responsible for anything borrowed on your card. To receive a replacement card, you will be asked to show identification, and pay a $3.00 replacement charge.
Any educator currently working at an education facility in Perth County is eligible for an Educator Card. This includes K-12 classroom teachers in public and private schools, daycare center instructors and homeschoolers. Full details on Educator cards
