Anya Taylor-Joy leads the pack of best dressed Brits at the Emmy’s
Last night, Tatler’s October cover star Anya Taylor-Joy dialled up the glamour for the 73rd Primetime Emmy’s in Los Angeles. After two years of our living rooms playing host to screenings with the closure of cinemas worldwide, and the power of Netflix seeming to know no limits, the world of TV has never been so opulent. Taylor-Joy, whose stardom has seen a tremendous rise this past year, opted for a Dior Haute Couture silk gown and yellow robe with dazzling Tiffany & Co jewellery as the show that made her a household name, The Queen’s Gambit, took home an outstanding 11 awards.
11 seemed to be the lucky number of the evening as, coincidentally, Taylor-Joy’s British contemporaries from the beloved The Crownalso received the same amount of trophies. Olivia Colman, dressed in a Roksanda cape dress and crystal heeled Roger Vivier platforms, got the gold for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Gillian Anderson, looking tip-top in a fringed crop top and trousers from Chloé, received glittering recognition as Best Supporting Actress. While Margaret Thatcher herself may have not been a fan of flashing the navel, it sure looked fabulous on the 53-year-old actress who portrays her in the series.
Emma Corrin, who was a big contender for the lead actress spot for her adored work as Princess Diana, may have lost out on this occasion but her Miu Miu ensemble with opera gloves, bathing cap and a marvellous-meets-monstrous manicure was a big hit with the fashion crowd. Another alum of the show, Emerald Fennell, who played a young Camilla Parker Bowles, scored big style points too. Looking just as dazzling as one of her jewellery designer father Theo Fennell's decadent pieces, the actress and writer vouched for Valentino in a crystal-embellished gown paired with a feather-adorned Jimmy Choo clutch.
Here are Tatler's best looks from the event where the small screen brought big-time elegance.
