Ursula Andress' outfit, which caused many a rapid intake of breathe as she emerged from the sea in one of the most famous scenes from the James Bond films, is expected to fetch more than £50,000 at an auction in London next month.
The white cotton bikini, which she wore as Honey Ryder in Dr No, helped make the Swiss-born actress a star. Miss Andress, now 64, decided to sell the bikini after she found it in the attic at her home. It will be auctioned at Christie's South Kensington in a sale of Bond memorabilia on Feb 14.
Miss Andress said: "This bikini made me into a success. As a result of starring in Dr No as the first Bond girl I was given the freedom to take my pick of future roles and to become financially independent."
