Yogurt Mountain Coming Soon to Books-a-Million

LAKELAND | There are more than 200 Books-A-Million stores across the United States, but only one can offer books and frozen yogurt.

Yogurt Mountain will soon open inside Books-A-Million at Lakeside Village in Lakeland. It will replace Joe Muggs Coffee, which closed last week.

There are still about 180 Joe Muggs within Books-A-Million stores.

"We're really excited about Yogurt Mountain," said Jane Hoerner, marketing manager for Books-A-Million, which is based in Birmingham, Ala.

Hoerner said Books-A-Million wanted to tap into the frozen yogurt craze.

"We thought it'd be a great opportunity to try this out in Lakeland," she said.

Yogurt Mountain offers a variety of fat-free and low-fat flavors including vanilla, cheesecake, coconut, rootbeer float and wild strawberry.

There are even more toppings to choose from - about 50 - including cereals, nuts, sauces, and fresh fruit.

The frozen treat is self-serve, and you pay by the ounce.

There are currently three Yogurt Mountain locations in Alabama, where it's based.

Several other cities, including Tampa and Clearwater, will be getting a Yogurt Mountain soon, according to the company's Facebook page.

The Lakeland location is tentatively scheduled to open Nov. 18, Hoerner said.
