I have not found any. They are like hotels which do not give you independent living. They will not be like UK with nice retirement villages. They are behind in opportunities for retired people because most people stay in their homes as they age and the family has to visit them and take care of them . I have read that they are becoming more aware of retirement living and I would be thrilled if someone finds a location similar to UK examples.
“They are behind in opportunities for retired people because most people stay in their homes as they age and the family has to visit them and take care of them.” That’s “behind”? Hardly. Italians, as a rule, do not abandon or otherwise run away from their parents and grandparents. They help them maintain their independence as much and for as along as possible by doing the above. Additionally have noticed that a number of new homes being built for new young families are built with an separate apartment not only its own en suite bathroom facilities but it own full kitchen. This gives these young families the option of offering their parents or perhaps even another older retired relative a place to live if they are unable or unwilling to maintain their own homes later in life. There are also other alternatives for Italians in “the third age”. It is better to be old here than most other places, especially the US.
Not that I am aware of. Although there are talks of creating “senior living”. Just not sure when and or where. My fiancé works with student housing in Italy, and has said that the conversations has moved from student to senior living.
