Bahrain's Prince Mohammed bin Hamad successfully led a 16-member Bahrain royal guards team to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
The team were among the first foreigners to climb the world's tallest peak since Nepal's government reopened the mountain after it was shut last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
King Hamad of Bahrain called the Bahrain Royal Guard team to congratulate them on their historic achievement and for hoisting the kingdom’s flag at Mt Everest.
Prince Mohamed has already summited Mount Manaslu (8,163 metres) and Mount Lobuche (6,119 metres) in the Himalayas, during the pandemic.
The outdoor enthusiast transported 2,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to Nepal in March.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, congratulated the Bahraini leaders.
