We are announcing the cancellation of Digital Access, our paid digital subscription program for readers of our website, thestar.com, effective April 1, 2015.
This decision means that effective April 1 all of our award-winning content will be available free on our website, thestar.com, and across all digital devices, including tablets and smartphones.
We are making this move after extensive input from our readers and our advertisers. Listening to our audiences is critical to the success of our daily newspaper and our digital offerings and we are committed to continually adjusting our digital strategies to provide them with what they want.

The decision to cancel Digital Access means readers will receive full access to thestar.com, including all the news articles, columnists, investigative reports, sports, multimedia features and much more that combined make the Toronto Star, in print and online, the best and most comprehensive provider of news and information in Canada.
Last year, when the Toronto Star launched Digital Access, it unveiled a newly designed website and introduced exciting features that enhance the reading experience of our subscribers and address the needs of advertisers. They included more videos, live blogs, chats and breaking news, as well as the investigative journalism that Toronto Star and thestar.com readers know and trust.
We are fully committed to continue to invest in high-quality reporting, in-depth investigative journalism and digital innovation on which Star readers have come to depend. In coming months, we will unveil further improvements, including design features and unique offerings that distinguish the Star and thestar.com from other news organizations.
The last billing for Digital Access occurred in the middle of February for March’s service. There will be no further charges for Digital Access. Some of the Toronto Star’s print subscribers who were also paying for Digital Access may see a lower charge in their subscription based on the terms of their subscription package.
