You will join our collaborative team in our Experimental Fluid Mechanics Research Laboratory. You will assemble and commission a Refractive Index Matched Facility and then study turbulent flows relevant to different practical applications. Problems of interest include flow over rough and porous surfaces, cavity flows as well as flow past flapping foils. We have just installed other brand-new facilities (boundary-layer wind tunnel, water flume and anechoic wind tunnel) and you will have the opportunity to work in these.

To be successful it is essential you have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Experimental fluid mechanics along with experience in the design, development and assembly of experimental setups. Experience and knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication of models and a working knowledge of laser diagnostics is highly desirable. Strong communication and language skills, as evidenced by publications and presentations, are essential.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

This post is offered on a full-time, fixed term basis for 2 years.
