Hi, welcome to the UOW Library Information Session, we hope that you're enjoying your orientation experience so far. We're coming to you from Wollongong Campus, but you can access library services at all campus sites, as well as online.
Each UOW Library and partner libraries offer both quiet and collaborative spaces for your study and research needs. At Wollongong, these spaces can be found over three floors. The ground floor is home to collaborative, informal learning spaces, this includes a lounge and kitchen area where you can refresh and recharge, as well as UOW Archives and the Law Collection. Level 1 is where you'll find the majority of the Library's physical collections, it's also our quiet space. Level 2 is largely a collaborative space. It is home to both the hardcopy journals and our curriculum resource collection. This is the location of many of our group study rooms, which are bookable from the Library website. You can also book rooms for Shoalhaven Campus. Visit our website to check out the library spaces at all of our campus locations or talk to on-site staff.
Please be mindful of observing COVID-19 protocols at each site, including distancing and sanitising, and follow any specific on-site direction. For example, at Wollongong Campus we have implemented one-way travel stairways with arrows to show you which way to travel. When visiting library spaces please wipe down your workstation both before and after use with the wipes provided.
Computers are available for use within library spaces. You can also bring your own device and plug into power provided. When borrowing from the Library's physical collections, your student card is your library card and is also used for scanning, photocopying and printing once you have added credit to your card.
If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask our friendly staff for help. Library staff are available through Live Chat to help connect you with resources and assist you with your research. You can find Library Live Chat on most of our pages by clicking the red tab to the right-hand side of the screen. You can talk to UOW Library staff via Live Chat, email, phone or in person.
We can help you with:
We receive many different questions, but the two main categories of questions are finding resources (whether that be physical books or ebooks) or being able to access information regarding membership. So, the primary place to start a search is usually our search bar. You can find it under the Library heading on our homepage.
Another important question that we often get asked is where to find the returns chute. The returns chute is located in the foyer when you enter on your right. Return chutes can be found at each campus library. If you can't get onto campus you can always return your item to us by mail.
Booking group study rooms
We also help students book group study rooms. From the homepage you can scroll down to quick links on the right-hand side and click ‘book a room’. This will show you all the rooms available for that day. Once you've selected the room and time slots that you want, click ‘submit’ and log in. The room will be booked for you.
Finding subject readings
To find subject readings, go to the Library homepage and scroll down to the quick links on the right hand side. Click subject readings and enter your subject code or the subject name (for example for ‘ACCY200’) to find resources for that subject. If you’re studying off-shore, you can pick the country you're studying the course in.
Keep up to date with Library information via our website. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook as well as on the MYUOW app by opting into the Library channel.
