Coolidge overwhelmingly defeats Davis for the presidency

By Robert J. Bender

Of the other doubtful commonwealths, Missouri turned definitely into the Coolidge column today after wavering throughout the night; and in Montana, where Senator LaFollette was a strong bid for the electoral votes, the day's tabulations showed steadily increasing margins for President Coolidge.

With the Presidency settled, chief interest centered in the complexion of the next Congress. The House assuredly safely in Coolidge's hands with material Republican gains, three of them in Davis' home state of West Virginia.

The Senate, however, is still in doubt.
