NIDRION, Greece -- Mrs. John F. Kennedy, 39, marries Aristotle Onassis, 62, today in a tiny Greek Orthodox chapel on the island he owns in the Ionian Sea. The woman who has known so much sorrow said yesterday she was "very happy." Describing herself and the multimillionaire Onassis as "simple" people, the widowed first lady pleaded with newsmen to respect the privacy of the wedding set for 4 p.m. on the Isle of Skorpios.

"We know you understand that even though people may be well known, they still hold in their hearts the emotions of a simple person for the moments that are most important of those we know on earth birth, marriage, death," Mrs. Kennedy said in a message relayed to the small army of newsmen assembled to cover the wedding of the year.
It was her wish, Mrs. Kennedy said, that her marriage to Onassis be "a private moment" in the chapel among the cypress trees on the island he bought as a private paradise.
"Wish us happiness and peace," Mrs. Kennedy said.
The lights on Onassis' yacht Christina twinkled as night fell and members of the wedding party toasted the happy couple.
The latest arrival was Mrs. Kennedy's sister, Princess Lee Radziwill, and her husband, Prince Stanislaus Radziwill. When they arrived at Athens Airport before flying to Skorpios Princess Radziwill told reporters the wedding would take place at 4 p.m. (10 a.m. EDT) today and would last for about an hour.
It was the first word on any exact plans.
Throughout the day there was little to be seen of Mrs. Kennedy and Onassis himself did not appear above decks on the Christina.
