United Press Associations formed to serve evening newspapers
NEW YORK July 15, 1907 (UP) - The completion of an important press association consolidation was announced this morning. By arrangements just completed, the Publishers Press Association, the Scripps-McRae Press Association and the Scripps News Association become one concern, under the name of the "United Press Associations."
Suffragettes confront London police
LONDON, July 1, 1908 (UP) -- One thousand suffragettes, goaded into madness by the action of the police, to-day attempted to rescue twenty-eight of the twenty-nine of their number who were arrested during last night's unprecedented demonstration in Parliament square. These twenty-eight were in a prison van and were being hauled to prison, when a mob of enraged women "rushed" the van, just as it was leaving the courtyard.

Rosewood, Fla., Jan. 5 (United Press) --Hundreds of white men, heavily armed, poured into Rosewood, Florida today to reinforce the small guard watching a barricaded negro house in which a score of blacks are hiding, following a race riot which has raged here since last night in which twenty-two negroes and whites were killed.
