MADISON, Wis., March 3, 1997 (UPI) -- Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are trying to clone a cow, although the leader of the project says success is a long way off.Dr. Neal First said Monday the researchers have successfully created three embryos by fusing fetal skin cells, or ''donor'' cells, with unfertilized eggs. But the embryos' chances of survival are low and First said the work won't mean much unless one of them produces a cow.
