A Pig, A Swan, A Statue, A Headscarf — Harry Styles's New Gucci Campaign Is Even More Extra Than The Last
Harry Styles's third Gucci campaign has been released today. Continuing as the face of the Gucci Tailoring collection, Harry is photographed in settings that play on the house's eclectic aesthetic and also call on his acting prowess.
In the previous two campaigns, Harry has been stood brooding in an English fish and chip shop and then photographed posing in an Italian garden landscape. However, in the latest campaign, we are served business executive Harry. Standing behind a paper-strewn desk when on the phone, Harry's face is the expression of someone on hold. We've all been there.
For Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2019 men’s tailoring collection, creative director Alessandro Michele’s vision offers a refreshing take on formalwear, challenging the conventions of men’s suiting as Harry appears in flamboyant, colour-clashing, modern pieces.
Just like the last campaign saw the musician cradling lambs and piglets, here he is joined by a pig who roams over his office supplies. Meanwhile, a stuffed swan, stone busts and a lampshade with a teacup stand also share the Harmony Korine-lensed frame. In another scene, Harry reclines as he feeds himself grapes, while in another a gust of wind leaves him chasing pages from his book.
The styling we can see Harry photographed in, follows his own style evolution. As his stylist Harry Lambert told Miss Vogue on the eve of the Met Gala, we're about to enter a whole new fashion chapter for the musician and actor as the anticipation for his second solo album builds.
"It's time to try something new and hopefully shock and inspire in a different way," Lambert said. "I know the fans love his outfits, so hopefully they will love what’s to come." There's less of the floral suits that dominated the early campaigns and his tour looks, with now more of a focus on a mash-up of eclectic pieces coming together.
