Mission Statement

Chicktime exists to encourage women to develop their passions and use their gifts to make the world a better place for the next generation. We recognize that children are suffering from abuse and neglect in communities all across America and that it is up to us to help them heal.

Description

Chicktime is a movement empowering women to stop the cycle of child abuse by going into children’s homes (basically orphanages) and loving on the kids. We believe that if a child is convinced they are loved their wounds will heal and they won’t lash out when they are adults and repeat the cycle of abuse with their own children. We do this by setting up monthly activities with children living in children’s homes and encouraging women in the local community to come in and teach classes based on their passions. We invite volunteers to come in and play along with the kids during the activities acting as the fun aunt or big sister... just a way of bonding with them and showing them love through time and attention. The hope is that the volunteers will connect with the kids and find ways to come back and help out more with needs the children’s homes have. Chicktime is a gateway to start up the relationships.

"Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us." James 1:27

Because, I spent most of my life helping in the community. I even started my own nonprofit organization in Silver Spring, MD that was operated by youth that the system saw as a problem child. I helped Former Governor Mike Ensley with the victims right movement. I lead the drive for the homeless warm coat and raised over 2,000 blankets and coats as Asst. Director at Pensacola Caring Hearts. I need to find away to continue helping and supporting the communities and the world in need.

This organization is religious based. which is fine if that's you're thing but if it is not then don't waste you're time.

This organization is desperately needed, I believe that as a licensed psychotherapist, working with women of all ages , racial and socioeconomic backgrounds I understand the issues and I’d love the opportunity to help

Why restrict this to women? Lots of men would like to participate, I am sure.

Women are very powerful creatures. Lol. The facts that someone even made a club just for women screams out power and I am so willing to get other women involved!

I want to work with Chicktime because I feel I would make a great impact in our community because I am trying to spread awareness about child neglection myself, so I can inform people about this organization as well.

Most people want to help and change the lives of others, but don't know where or how to begin. With this organization people are shown what to do to make a difference.

The better question is why not. So many kids fall through the cracks and get lost. Its us to us to help them

The time I spend volunteering with Chicktime is so rewarding. My local chapter partners with a children's home serving 80 physically and/or sexually abused little girls who need to know they matter to the local community. The Chicktime organization encourages women to identify their passions and gifts and turn them into workshops to bring to these children, like yoga, cooking classes, sewing, even singing and dancing. This fun play time with the children can get a little wild and crazy as grown women are laughing and playing along with children, I love it. I also love that there are chapters all throughout the USA searching out and finding charities that support victims of abuse because I like being a part of an organization that allows any woman to invest her skills and resources in these children. Child abuse is a cycle and the children being abused need to feel loved and cared for and I like doing my part to make sure they know they are.
