Vote for your favorites today!

The Webby Awards recognize Vox Media’s standout creative work across a dozen categories. From daily news shows and offbeat video storytelling to meaningful branded content, we’re proud to celebrate our nominees and honorees, as well as the many writers, podcasters, and marketers behind these projects. With 11 nominations and eight honorees, Vox Media is one of the companies with the most nominations at the 2021 Webbys — an honor that Vox Media also earned in 2020.

From the Vox Media Podcast Network — one of the largest, fastest-growing, and most topically diverse collections of premium podcasts — we applaud Vox’s Today, Explained, New York Magazine’s The Cut, Vox Creative and Ben & Jerry’s Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America, Recode’s Land of the Giants: The Netflix Effect, and Cafe’s Stay Tuned with Preet.

Notably, Vox’s Today, Explained, the daily explainer show from host Sean Rameswaram, earned four nominations that recognize both the show’s ability to breakdown headlines and its knack for taking new, innovative storytelling approaches — as seen in its special episodes and limited series such as The Trump Years and Today, Explained to Kids.

In The Trump Years series, the Today, Explained team took a break from the daily headlines during election season to look back at the most significant policies, scandals, and accomplishments of the Trump administration that were most transformative for the country. The series featured guest voices from across Vox Media, including Vox’s Dylan Matthews and New York Magazine’s Rebecca Traister, and explored the long-term impact of Trump’s impeachment, economic decisions, immigration policies, and more.

In video, the Webby’s highlight both the unconventional video creators from SB Nation’s Secret Base — who are praised for their popular, not-so-super-serious series “Beef History” about classic sports rivalries — and the Emmy-award-winning video and TV team from Vox. Here, the Vox creators are acknowledged for two deeply reported pieces that explain how technology is unexpectedly impacted our lives.
