Polygon and the Vox Media Podcast Network launch Galaxy Brains—a new podcast where movies, TV, and overthinking collide

Hosted by Dave Schilling and Jonah Ray, the show debuts today with new episodes publishing every Thursday

Today, Vox Media’s gaming and entertainment network, Polygon, and the Vox Media Podcast Network launched Galaxy Brains, a new entertainment podcast that redefines the “what-to-watch guide” and brings the energy of post-watch text chains and wild Reddit threads to the podcast space.

Hosted by best friends and comedy collaborators Dave Schilling (The Ringer’s The Masked Man Show) and Jonah Ray Rodrigues (Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return), Galaxy Brains is a deep dive into the latest series or film. Each week on the show, Schilling and Ray start with the Logical Brain, over-analyze with the Critical Brain, question everything with the Interrogation Brain, and of course, arrive at the Galaxy Brain with a new revelation. An expert guest, from comedians to creators to scholarly authorities, will join the pair for each journey, which promises insight and entertainment in a world of never-ending content.

“Galaxy Brains finally offers the opportunity to expose my wildest, most unhinged opinions about pop culture,” said Dave Schilling. “I’ve been screaming about how Godzilla is actually a metaphor for fear of intimacy for years now, and I’m excited to finally have a microphone to share these conversations with the world. I apologize in advance for all the minds I’m about to blow.”

Galaxy Brains launched today, with three new episodes, “Justice League,” an episode about a full breakdown on what makes Zach Snyder’s take on Superman superior, “Godzilla vs. Kong,” a deep dive about what that giant angry lizard still means, and “Mighty Ducks,” a chat about reboots, revivals, and post-modern reinvention. Special guests include screenwriter John August and the Criterion Collection’s Godzilla expert Steve Ryfle. Additionally, new episodes will be published weekly on Thursdays.

Listen to the episodes here and follow Galaxy Brains on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.

SIMPLE Mobile is the exclusive launch partner for the podcast.
