Actually, this is a fairly simple procedure:

Go to the top category involved. In other words, if the problem is happening in "Society: Issues: Labor: Slavery: Sudan,"* go to "Society."

Scroll down to the bottom of that page, and you'll see this:

>Category editors: dmozmarch, herbridg, inge, indianpipe, techieguy, tedres

Those are the "top Society editors."

Send email to one of them explaining the problem in detail, examples which might make investigating easier for the top editor, and your email address.

Our top editors have generally been with the project a long time, are staff or metas, or have otherwise gained positions of trust.

IF you don't hear back from them in a few weeks, go to Plan B: Email a meta or editall who will assist you.

I will not post those names here but will ask that any of them reading this post do so.

That's the second problem I've seen re site owners, either impatience or a misunderstanding of how long it might take ODP (or any other human-edited directories, for that matter) to review and -perhaps- resolve the problem. Give it a few WEEKS, folks.

Oh yeah. I guess I should explain this:

I currently have 171 unread ODP emails in my box.

Although I am certain that this is not true of all editalls, top editors and meta editors, it is not out of the question.

Although I dedicate probably 35 hours a week -- a conservative estimate -- this is certainly not "normal" for any ODP editor.

So, you gotta give 'em time.

I have submitted hundreds (800?) of pages/sites for clients and myself over the last two years to dmoz (hey, its still NewHoo to those that love it). In that time:

a) I've had 5 pages rejected (3 were a stupid 404 mistake by the host, and the other two where just plain a bad pages that I shouldn't have submitted).
b) Longest I've waited was five weeks. Most are added in 5working days.
c) Very rare for an editor to edit my titles/descriptions. Although I will say, I don't try to load up on kw's too much. Mostly I go for the classic alphabetical listing basis - something starting with an A or B (example: "All I know about xyz" ;-)
d) I can't ever remember contacting an editor where I didn't get some sort of reply.
e) I've never had a case where I would consider an editor as a comptitor being a problem. Usually, they seem to take extra care in making sure my is listed just as I submitted it.
f) I don't do adult sites.
