WHO COVID-19 SPRP: Updated Appeal September 2021 - March 2022
An urgent call to fund the COVID-19 emergency response
7 October 2021
| COVID-19: Critical preparedness, readiness and response
Overview
To operationalize the COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP) published in February 2021, WHO appealed for US$1.96 billion to fund its essential role in ending the acute phase of the pandemic. As of September 2021, WHO still faces a funding
gap of almost US$900 million to cover the period till March 2022. This shortfall means that critical areas of the response are at risk.
This updated appeal is an urgent call for the international community, in particular our donors to fund the SPRP fully and flexibly to allow WHO to play its global role in tackling this pandemic and fulfill the mandate given to it by its Member States.
