@E4024 I emailed James himself yesterday about the item and from his response it sounds like he's contacted Wikimedia Privacy regarding certain statements, particularly the unsourced date of birth and place of birth statements. So from that correspondence I hope something will be done to Q106715007 soon.

Gracias por las respuestas. Como ya he dicho el tema de ese joven como tal no me interesa y por eso tampoco tenía idea de las cosas que Hasley acaba de compartir. Francamente estoy muy convencid@ que tenemos que separar las aguas entre diferencias de opinión (aunque se presenten en forma de una competición o pelea de cambios) y lo que es vandalismo. Recientemente estuve de visita en el tablón de administradores. Me ha molestado muchísimo aunque nadie ni siquiera opinó algo. Si no sabemos usar Project chat o añoramos tener otra plataforma para discutir diferencias de opinión sobre contenido, hagamos un "tablón de administradores contra el vandalismo" donde se pueden discutir contribuciones consideradas vandalismo por el/la proponente. Pienso que diferencias de opinión no es un tema de administración. Los administradores -o bibliotecarios como me gusta más- tienen que discutir esos temas en igualdad de condiciones con el resto y no con un botón nuclear en la manga. Hagamos el "tablón de administradores contra el vandalismo" y si alguién trae un tema de diferencias de opinión a dicho tablón, que el administrador que lo vea lo traslade a la página "project chat" o alguna nueva plataforma por este tipo de (non-vandal) conflictos. Non-admin help request

Hi. Asiye Nurten (Q101232142) is co-author of a series of academic articles we have got. I want to create the necessary links between the items of the author(s) of these articles with the items of the relative texts, such as Scopolamine-induced convulsions in food given fasted mice: effects of physostigmine and MK-801. (Q42548060). Can you show me how to do that? (I guess for texts written by several people we need to have a "co-author" thingy, but we do not.)

OTOH, all these academic article items are made by bots and of course they cannot decipher the exact names of the co-authors, as in this case, because the text just says "Nurten A" instead of "Asiye Nurten". Also, the bot (why?) adds a full stop dot at the end of article names, which seems wrong to me. Is it not?

Hello. There are two types of author properties. These are author (P50) (used when the item for the author exists) and author name string (P2093) (used when the item does not exist). I did a search for the authors using Author Disambiguator (Nurhan Enginar, Asiye Nurten, Pınar Yamantürk, and Hikmet Koyuncuoǧlu), and only two have items—Nurhan Enginar (Q17046216) and Asiye Nurten (Q101232142). Both properties can be used, keeping the same series ordinal (P1545) to denote order; see for example Q21521425.

Regarding your last question, I am not really sure, but suspect that it was a bot error. Hope it helps.

I already made Pınar Yamantürk (Q107449659), the item of her surname, and developed the items of people with that surname etc. I think Wikidata should pay me, at least the gafas/lentes! Hi Hasley, I just noticed that you blocked Special:Contributions/2001:8004:C82:D673:F1D4:97DB:9AA5:890B. It's an LTA vandal from New South Wales who keeps us busy for many months. In sum it took me some hours cleaning up their crap on Commons and here as well. Just FYI: Today I was fed up once again and blocked all of their IP ranges for 6 months: Special:Contributions/2001:8003:2000::/36, Special:Contributions/2001:8003:365a:7500::/64, Special:Contributions/2001:8004::/32, and Special:Contributions/101.190.0.0/17. The last one had collateral damage here on wikidata, where they used Special:Contributions/101.190.73.162 only. I tried to collect their IPs but I've given up now. Sabiha Sertel (Q1396133) was born Sabiha Nazmi and with marriage became Sabiha Zekeriya. Later -with the Surname Law- Sabiha Sertel. ES:WP makes a mistake in her previous names such as "Sabiha Nazmi Zekeriya Sertel" (sic) and a bot adds that invented name to her item here. I am not sure why I care for that version of WP (maybe I only care for "knowledge") and I guess you are active there. Maybe you can do something to prevent the bot from doing this again. • We have implemented three new instances: Limesurvey, Moodle and MediaWiki. The first will be for conducting surveys to be sent to volunteers, the second for a future educational program and the third for testing on MediaWiki.
• As you know, this group offers permanent connection to Libera.Chat through its bouncer service. Now the requests are processed via Phabricator to make it easier for volunteers to access this service.

• On October 29, we requested a general support fund so that our mission can continue uninterrupted. We hope that the Latin America and Caribbean Committee will look favorably on our proposal to support small projects.
• We need your feedback: Help us to focus our efforts to support small projects in the coming year. We want you to tell us what we can support and in what ways we should support them. The survey will run for thirty days, until December 03. The survey link is here.

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

Hola Hasley, últimamente en Wikidata he patrullado Cambios recientes y he detectado varias cuentas CPP o spambots que solo tienen ediciones en Wikidata, y que son creadas específicamente para spamear o autopromocionarse aquí a través de sus PU's; sin embargo, si los reporto en Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard‎, se borran las páginas de usuario pero no se bloquean este tipo de cuentas, cuando mucho solo se les coloca una advertencia y a veces tampoco se hace eso, incluso aunque sean CPP's corporativas (ya otro administrador me avisó que no existe el concepto de "cuenta corporativa" en Wikidata) o claros spambots. Mi pregunta es: ¿existen políticas en Wikidata que normen a este tipo de cuentas (algo como WP:CPP o WP:SPAM)? En caso de no haberlas, de todos modos creo necesario reiterar de que existen cuentas creadas específicamente para hacer spam y autopromoción en este proyecto a través de sus páginas de usuario. Hola, Ruy. En primer lugar, respecto a «no existe el concepto de "cuenta corporativa"», quiero comentar que en Wikidata no hay una política de nombres de usuario; al igual que en Wikimedia Commons, las cuentas corporativas no están estrictamente prohibidas, siempre y cuando no violen ninguna normativa aplicable, pues esto no es un pase libre para el autobombo.

Respondiendo a tu pregunta, en estos casos prima el sentido común, ya que, aparte de WD:BLOCK, no tenemos una política específica que los regule. Incluso Wikidata:Conflict of interest no es más que una desambiguación. La práctica habitual, recomendada por la política de bloqueos, es dejarle al usuario una advertencia y, si reincide en su conducta improcedente, aplicar las debidas sanciones. En lo personal, yo tiendo a bloquear esa clase de cuentas, aunque eso queda en manos del administrador de turno.

Ediciones disruptivas

Hola Hasley, quizás te comentaron por IRC que trataba de encontrar un biblio/administrador que entienda de la comunidad de eswiki. Hace rato que vengo encontrando ediciones disruptivas sobre biografías de políticos cubanos por parte de un editor. Justamente hoy lo bloquearon en eswiki por CCP aunque sigue editando por aquí con los mismos procedimientos. Si pudieras darle una mirada sus ediciones, te lo agradecería. Deshacer fusiones

Hola Hasley. te estoy molestando nuevamente porque desearía una explicación clara (por ello en español, no sea cuestión de liarla más...) sobre cómo colaborar en deshacer fusiones. He encontrado fusiones de elementos de biografías con otro elemento que corresponde al artículo de una enciclopedia. Por ahora lo he visto en artistas donde su elemento (biográfico) lo fusionaron con el elemento que describe su entrada en el diccionario especializado Benezit. ¿Existe una forma sencilla, especialmente cuando hay ediciones posteriores por lo cual no se debería restaurar antes de esa edición? Puedes ver en mis contribuciones que ya deshice uno, el embrollo que quisiera deshacer es Q2901913 y quedan otros tres (creo...). Atendiendo a aspectos técnicos, el elemento en particular que mencionas no debería ser difícil de arreglar: simplemente hay que deshacer las ediciones erróneas, ir a las entradas que ahora son redirecciones y restaurarlas antes de la fusión. Exactamente lo que hiciste en Q12259628. Pero en los casos especiales que nombras, me temo que no hay una forma sencilla…

La alternativa que existe es ir cambio por cambio; es decir, hacerlo todo «a mano». Sé que puede llevar bastante tiempo, pero, lamentablemente, es lo único que se puede hacer. Un saludo, —Hasley + 14:37, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Protection needed

For Diana of Versailles (Q2584518), there are some vandalic IPs, used for block evasion, changing the image there.

Good evening Hasley, as I informed you in the previous section, the globally blocked user Livioandronico2013 is using different IPs for vamdalize the articles, principally for change the images alvailable there and put those taken by himself, and reverting people who later add a better resolution pic for impose his versions. Recently, using the IPs that I'd previously written in the previous section (and probably the list would be increased, because he changes his IP constantly), he is vandalizing the article of Diana of Versailles for that propose (diff 1, diff 2, diff 3). I think that, in addition of the block of those accounts, a temporal protection would be needed for the article. @Hasley, sorry again for disturb, I saw that the last IP-sock of Livioandronico2013 began to vandalize the article of Michelangelo's David (Q179900) and I'm worried about that page too because, due to his recent changes in Diana of Versailles, is possibly that he will change his IP again to continue vandalizing that article. I blocked a couple of IPs and protected both of those items for one-two weeks, but most of those addresses are highly dynamic, and, therefore, blocks likely will not be effective. On the other hand, and unfortunately, I am really occupied with other stuff, so I would suggest filing requests at the administrators' noticeboard.
